Registering as a Small-Holding

You have to register as a small-holding if you wish to benefit from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food* (MAFF) grants, subsidies and other services. (Registration is not compulsory).

However, if you register you are required to make an annual return to the Ministry of Agriculture as part of their annual census.

If you buy an established holding then the chances are that it will already be registered as a small-holding.

If so, you will automatically inherit this registration.

If not, apply to your local MAFF office (see telephone directory under Agriculture).
