[pf] Water

· Just now I said: "[a] very welcome (for water in our tank) shower!" We
_do_ drink water off our roof, and have done, as a family, for 21 years
(I've drunk rainwater off the roof for most of my life).

[GV]Water :-

Hi,
I guess the main reason for the bad water quality in NZ is that people
don't appreciate good drinking water. I would conclude that this is caused
by most people never drinking simply water, but tea, milo, coffee,
softdrinks etc.

Coming from the Austrian mountains we are used to drinking water and now
buy all the water we use for drinking & cooking. In my view water is the
most important element we need to live.

To drink rainwater from the roof which is polluted with roof-paint,
birdshit etc. is not an option for me.

Distilled water is unhealthy as well as it takes minerals from us instead
of supplying them to us. (the dentists get rich)

Nelson has a terrible public water supply (from a dam) and the council
will now put a filter in place. To my surprise though the majority of
people complain about spending any money on raising the quality of the
water supply. Their only concern seems to be having an endless supply to
wash the car or water the roses.

Of course I can see that it is a waste of resources to supply daily an
average of 500 liters of high quality drinking water to every household
when in fact only 10% are needed for human consumption, dishwashing etc.
and 90% are wasted for toilets, carwash, sprinkling the lawn etc.

cheers
