Hi,
I finally went back on-line to check my email and noticed that I had 600
messages. I have been very busy on another listserv (with another screen
name).
Just wanted to take this brief time to THANK all of you. This PS listserv was
my first initiation into the world of listservs of social change agents and
it helped me immensely to discover like-minded individuals. As a result I
started a magazine, 5 other listservs.
Also, I wanted to let you know that HOPEDANCE has improved and is stretching
out beyond the bioregion of the central coast of california... into LA,
SDiego and northern California. Just wanted to let you know that since I will
be turning this screen name off. If you wish to know more click to hopedance web site and check out the
latest (online) special issue on WATER (with Vicki Robin, John Todd, Maude
Barlow, Edward Abbey and others...).
Our newest issue focuses on WORKING WITH CONFLICT... especially since I saw
and see so much of conflict amidst our own allies (on listservs, in meetings,
etc.) that I thought I'd devote an entire issue to it. So I asked Gene
Knudsen Hoffman to co-edited with me... she is the grandmother of the
Compassionate Listening Project... we also have Leah Greene writing about her
work with the Israeli-Palestinian CLProject as well as reviews of Michael
Henderson's work on Forgiveness; Roberta Cordera writes about Mediation &
Sustainability: A Chumash perspective, Patty Mara writes about
decision-making and consensus building within her cohousing community, Joanna
Macy writes about the Shambhala Warrior, SOA activist Tony Flynn writes about
an episode of non-violent guerilla theatre, we published the important IRV
and I write about how direct expression of our personal wilderness can often
times (in a very safe place) lead to a palpable compassionate resolve... If
you are intersted, check it out ($2 for a sample issue). [POB 15609, San Luis
Obispo, CA 93406].
Our next issues will involve HOUSING and solutions (not just whining about it
but who and what orgs are doing some very creative work in creating not only
affordable housing but with sustainable resources!)... and then there will be
the CITIZENSHIP 101 special issue where citizen muckracking and ordinances
and initiatives and all those democratic leverages that are inherent within
our system that we can use to bring about a better and safer and more
equitable world.
I will stop. thanks and have a prosperous, creative, awe-inspiring and
wonder-filled new year!
