Arnie,
    Both meaning pessimists and ostriches? I had heard a study way long ago
about pessimists and optimists.  According to this study, pessimists have
more of a handle on reality, and optimists are able to muster some optimism
by sweeping some of the "reality" under the carpet.  So, yes, I guess we
need both - my inner pessimist and inner optimist are fighting all the
time -sometimes one gains the upper hand, and sometimes the other does.
    I see the both in you too, Arnie, or you would have given up on change
long ago, yes?

  Yes, I agree ... but then, I'm considered a super pessimist and
scrooge! --  meanwhile I think of the `move-slowly-don't-upset-people'
people as ostriches who don't want to be bothered with the facts :-) .
Perhaps we could have both?
