 From Arnie:

We know that we in the West, particularly the USA, eat far too much -- note
the problems with obesity -- and we waste a great deal also, so if the
people in countries like ours where we eat and waste too much were to
change this practice we'd have a lot more food to share. So as a shortages
arise -- as it has in many Third World countries, our challenge will be to
distribute the surplus food to where it is needed.

IMO, we need to find ways to help the people to go back to growing their
own food, as they did before being lured -- or forced by their governments,
to grow cash crops for them to repay World Bank loans.
