Re: [pf] Risks, imposed or chosen

To me, besides the issues of forced technology without adequate testing so
as to garner profits for already wealthy companies, there is another issue
that we struggle with in many areas:
We are continually fighting for local control and personal control on many
fronts. Tommorrow night, our zoning board will be meeting about a proposed
cell phone tower. This weekend, Ed Garvey represented the town of Addison
against a company that wants to install wind-turbines. Ed Garvey, who ran
as a Democrat for governor a few years ago, and who spoke on behalf of Ralph
Nader at a rally in Madison (and who later spoke on behalf of Al Gore as the
pressure mounted and the race got very close) is very much in favor of
renewable energy, and always has been. Yet, in this instance, a company and
the state were trying to shove plans down the throats of the locals, and
even though it was wind energy, he defended the town against the wind
turbines. The same with Perrier - people have to fight very hard to have
control over their lives.
It is one thing if it is the government making a regulation/law for the
greater good, but another if it is for the good of a specific business.
