Stories, myths rule.

The ruling myth now is that the economy expanding will make a bigger pie for
all to share. A story challenging it is that human impact on the earth may go
so far over the limits of carrying capacity that civilization will collapse and
chaos result.

Another story challenging it is we can transform to a society that values
respects life, rejects death and violence, where we can devote ourselves to
friends, family, and community, and where justice, and sustainability are
enforced by a moral consensus.
