Oh John, come on. You say you're a writer--you should know then that
words aren't that simple. You didn't just give a simple definition, you
augmented it ("To this I would add: an excessively teamplayerish
person who seems incapable of expressing even the faintest glimmer of
individuality") in a way that clearly indicates what you think of such
people, in no uncertain terms. What can be more insulting that to paint
people as a nonindividual, especially those of whom you know nothing
except that they're a "team player."
Even Babbitt wasn't a Babbitt, or else Sinclear Lewis wouldn't have been
able to write an entire novel about him.
