I also often learn much from such conversations - not so much about what is the correct road, but rather, how do people make sense out of being alive here. What do they use to help guide their ways. · I also wasn't irritated; if I was I would almost certainly not respond. That's how these lists are supposed to work, I think. · My comments also weren't expected to have any effect in changing the actions of other people (e.g. "stopping" them doing something I might have been annoyed about); further down I had said: "... solely the choice or preference of the individual - no-one else's opinions or beliefs [should be more than a source of ideas]". · Nan picked that up with her: "I agree that bullying others to believe your way is wrong." And about being human. And novels, like spiritual discussions, are great conversation starters ... · This is where I have to apologise - I'm sorry, if someone unknown has decided against writing in to the group because of what I said or its tone. I hope anyone like that will reconsider, and give us your opinions: they _will_ be listened-to with care and attention - no-one will come down on you like a ton of bricks. · I have known for some years now that when I start pontificating it immediately acts as a wet blanket on the burgeoning discussion. I haven't yet found any forum where I can make my views clear without some such dampening effect. I even appreciate some response, even though I see my contribution as providing bright chips for the mosaic that others are building in their minds, rather than looking for interaction *per se*. · (Six "I"'s in two sentences is too many; I'll stop here.)
